The Great Southern Region has a magnificent array of fish and seafood, both wild and cultivated.
Our crystal clear and cool Southern Ocean supports fisheries of Herring, Australian Salmon, the sought-after Nannagai, Swordfish and bluefin Tuna, King George Whiting as well as deep sea crabs, Green Lip Abalone and Crayfish (lobster). Oysters and Mussels are cultivated in the clear waters of King George Sound.

Our quality seafood isn’t confined to the Ocean, some of our best known products come from streams and ponds inland. The south-west of Western Australia is the home of Marron and Yabbies, (native freshwater crayfish). Farmers are also growing Barramundi and Trout with some farmers on salt affected land, growing salt-water rainbow trout with great success.
