OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THE REGION

People with a passion and commitment to support the awareness and recognition of the Great Southern region are encouraged to consider nominating for a position on the board of the Great Southern Region Marketing Association (GSRMA).

Chairman of the Association, Marie Redman, urged interested people to consider nominating themselves or others that they feel have a genuine interest in the future development of the Great Southern.

The GSRMA aims to foster the synergy of food, wine, agriculture and tourism in the Great Southern region as well as promoting and stimulating demand for its products at a State, national and international level.

“The GSRMA plays an important role in promoting the integrity and usage of the regional brand “Great Southern Naturally” that has been developed for the promotion of the Great Southern region,” Ms Redman said.

“The GSRMA works with Government agencies, local governments and the private sector to capitalize on the diversity of the region’s primary produce, tourism markets and the incredible range of value-added produce.

“The Association also coordinates the highly successful ‘Taste Great Southern’ project and the ‘Great Southern Food and Wine Touring Guide’.”

Ms Redman said that the role of the board was to guide and direct the Association in achieving its objectives.

Nominees should have an interest in the region and knowledge or experience in areas such as primary and wine production, tourism, retail, environment and local government.

Terms of appointment are for two years, commencing on 13 June 2007 following endorsement at the Annual General Meeting.

Interested people have until 20th May to register with the GSRMA by contacting Marie Redman on 0429 161716 or by email at gsrma@westnet.com.au.
